Serena & Blair, to Dan: We need to talk to you.
Chuck, to Dan: I need to talk to you.
Nate, to Chuck: I need to talk to you
Eric: Ok wait, just tell me that no one’s trying to stop a wedding, run a ponzi scheme, give anybody fake cancer, or turn into a justifiably vengeful townie.
Pretty much Gossip Girl in a nutshell.
Legend has it, everyone in Vietnam are decedents of a dragon and the fairy; Lac Long Quan and Au Co. The fairy laid 100 eggs and once they hatched, the fairy took 50 of the children and took them North, and the other 50 went with the dragon and went to Southern Vietnam. They had to separate because they were from different bloodlines and they were better off separated.
In the South, near the coastline, the dragon taught those 50 the art of tattoos so when they went into the water, the tattoos would scare off the marine animals. He also taught them how to fish, grow rice, and harvest them.
In the North, the fairy taught her 50 to grow fruit trees and breed animals. They lived in the jungles so they had to build their houses up very high to avoid animals.
But Lac Long Quan stated to Au Co, “Despite the distance and separation, we must listen for one another and lend a hand to one another when needed. We must never let our bond be broken.” This story symbolizes how even though the North and South of Vietnam is different in many ways, we are all still connected with one another regardless.
Know your roots and my mom has always told me, “Always pass down the Vietnamese language and culture to your kids.” If you didn’t know, now you do, I’m glad to pass this on :)
It feels nice right? Not those one arm side hugs, but like a real embracing hug. The ones that make you actually feel important to the world. It feels great but recently its been hard to give them and even harder to receive them. Why? Because so many people get their lives crushed and they have a hard time expressing love to others. Those judgmental looks, heart-aches, broken motivations, self esteem issues, etc. It all effects us on the inside but society told us to hold our own and suck it up. It sucks but its true right? Let’s get back to those days when we were young and innocent and didn’t care about the world. That would turn out to be a nice day. I’ll wait for that day.
